Ben Clapton has been playing violin since he was 7, and enjoys it immensely. He has a wide range of experience, having performed in large youth orchestras, small chamber orchestras, chamber groups, and amateur music theatre orchestras. Some of the highlights of his playing career has been performing in the WA Youth Orchestra's tour to Singapore and Hong Kong, including a performance in the incredible Esplanade Concert Hall in Singapore, being part of the pit orchestra for Playlovers season of Spamalot, and performing the solo of Bach's Brandenburg Concerto Number 5 with the Cradle Coast Chamber Orchestra in Tasmania. Ben currently plays with the Bendigo Symphony Orchestra.

Ben has recently returned to teaching after a long break, but has previously taught violin at schools in Perth, including Thornlie Christian College and Guildford Grammar School.

Ben has also been playing guitar for 10 years, playing mostly in church worship groups. Since arriving in Rochester, Ben has started a monthly Jam Session at The Salvation Army Rochester called Just Jammin', and as part of that has developed a wide repertoire, singing and playing Love songs, Country songs, Folk songs, Rock n Roll, Irish and songs by the Beatles, amongst others. Ben has performed at markets, and for various community groups, and is keen to teach others how to find joy in playing the guitar.

Away from music, Ben enjoys woodwork, following the West Coast Eagles, watching Star Trek and Marvel movies, and running. He is married to Liesl, and has three kids.
